A better Foreign Minister?

Link: Pranab's interview in The-China..err..The Hindu

Seems, Pranab is all set to become a better Foreign minister in the UPA regime. Leave aside the politics et al, when we see the score card of Pranab mukherjee he had, atleast, spoken sensibly when it came to matter of national interest. Remember, he gave a clean chit to George Fernandez in Kargil casket "scandal", as a defence minister. ofcourse he then had to blunt it for political considerations, still seemingly he had carried out his intention well despite that he was answerable to Sonia (a nemesis of Fernandez and who is all set to pull him down at all cost) and "anna dhaatha" CPM. Why? Because in the way of political score settling the defense services' morality was going down because of this 'fictitious' scandal allegation. Pranab settled the score straight to an extent. And, now as a new foreign minister he has spoken very sensibly in the interview above. Though he expresses his and/or his party's stand of terming 1998 test as an abberation still he was careful not to tarnish the image of the country while saying so. I see this interview as not merely a magazine's interview of a cabinet minister but as a "acid test" conducted by The-China to see his 'comarade' ranking. Pranab, it seems, has done well as a cabinet minister.

Good that Manmohan has got a better "deputy" in his rival, ironically. Atleast, it seems these two are all set not to shame the nation in public for the sake of cut throat political competition between them and with the opposition. Let us see, it is an early judgment. Let us hope.
